Bromley and Lewisham seek joint ICT deal

Two south east London boroughs have published a shared tender for computing and telephony services worth up to £48m over nine years

The supplier will provide similar services to the two neighbouring boroughs, although LB Lewisham will provide the majority of the money, £3.4m annually compared with £1.9m each year from LB Bromley.

The deal is worth £5.3m annually, for a minimum period of five years. It may be extended twice, each time by two years.

The tender has two lots, according to the notice published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 21 December 2009. The first, for IT infrastructure and support services, will involve supporting both councils' infrastructure and applications.

However, the supplier will provide LB Lewisham only with development services. Lewisham expects to contribute £3m annually for this lot, while Bromley spends £1.5m.

The second lot, for voice and data support services, is expected to cost each council £400,000 annually. This will include mobile telephony, the exploration and deployment of wireless technologies and the technical support of CCTV networks, although not monitoring.

LB Bromley is also issuing a separate tender for exchequer services, while LB Lewisham is doing likewise for a data centre.
