Buying Solutions said that the two year agreement will provide public sector and associated organisations with end to end IT managed services. This will include the management of servers, desktops, laptop PCs and mobile devices.

Related computer services will include data hosting, network services and systems integration. Printing services, maintenance contracts, service desk facilities and computer estate management which can be delivered as a managed service, shared service or as a fully outsourced contract are covered by the tender which appeared in the Official Journal of the European Union on 15 June 2009.

Buying Solutions said it will use an electronic tendering system as part of this procurement. Details of the online auction will available to companies who are successful at the initial 'pre-qualification questionnaire' stage.

It also said that the public sector organisations involved in the framework, which could be Whitehall departments and agencies, the NHS or local councils, may decide to hold an electronic reverse auction when suppliers have been chosen.

The arrangement could be extended to four years and is estimated to be worth £600m.
