The three district councils hope to use the online consultation tools, supplied by Inovem, to improve the sharing of information with each other and to encourage participation from local residents and other stakeholders in planning processes.
The neighbouring councils agreed to work together through a joint core strategy in 2008. This requires the councils to look into future planning and development across the area to accommodate growth, and will be fully adopted in spring 2011.
Spatial planning manager of Cheltenham and Tewkesbury councils Tracey Crews told GC News: "Having a joint strategy and the joint procurement of Inovem has saved costs. It means we can train a greater number of staff at once to use the technology, and it allows us to work together much more closely."
Cheltenham and Tewkesbury already share a number of other services, including legal, building and audit.
