sportscotland to launch central portal

The national agency for Scottish sport is working on a new integrated website for release later this year

The redesign, to be led by digital agency Civic, is part of sportscotland's new digital communications strategy.

The new site will include information filtered from the websites of groups within sportscotland, with the aim of providing a more cohesive view for users. It will also provide links to obtain further information from the other sites.

"We're more concerned about the user journey and user interface than just making sure everything is in one place," said head of communications at sportscotland, Matt Lock.

He added: "The other sites will still exist, but the new set-up will mean that users can go onto the main site and say 'Oh yeah, there's something for me here', which excludes audience isolation."

The agency's digital strategy is currently under development, and the exact launch date is still being finalised. Decisions are yet to be taken on specific functions for the site and other elements of the digital strategy.

Managing director of Civic, Greig Tosh said: "With the spotlight on Scotland for the Commonwealth Games in 2014 this is a fantastic opportunity for sportscotland to build a visible and recognisable brand that unites all sports activity in Scotland."
